Equality is not the empirical claim that all groups of humans are interchangeable; it is the moral principle that individuals should not be judged or constrained by the average properties of their group. … If we recognize this principle, no one has to spin myths about the indistinguishability of the sexes to justify equality.
But consider a paper published in Science in 2008.1 The authors examined the relationship between math scores and sexual equality in forty countries (based on economic, educational, and political indices of gender equality; the worst was Turkey, the United States was middling, and, naturally, the Scandinavians were tops). Lo and behold, the more gender equal the country, the less of a discrepancy in math scores. By the time you get to the Scandinavian countries, it’s statistically insignificant. And by the time you examine the most gender-equal country on earth at the time, Iceland, girls are better at math than boys.
L'eguaglianza è un valore per i meno dotati, nel senso che garantisce loro di non essere penalizzati politicamente ed economicamente per il fatto di essere meno dotati. Ovviamente non è un valore per i più dotati (mi riferisco alle doti intellettuali, economiche, fisiche ecc.).
Lo scopo dell'uguaglianza umana non consiste nel rendere tutti uguali. Esattamente l'opposto: è il riconoscere che ciascun individuo è diverso da tutti gli altri, e che ogni persona ha il diritto di seguire la strada prescelta (a patto di non danneggiare altri).
Il Potere ha deciso che siamo tutti uguali. L'ansia del consumo è un'ansia di obbedienza a un ordine non pronunciato. Ognuno in Italia sente l'ansia, degradante, di essere uguale agli altri nel consumare, nell'essere felice, nell'essere libero: perchè questo è l'ordine che egli ha inconsciamente ricevuto, e a cui "deve" obbedire, a pena di sentirsi diverso. Mai la diversità è stata una colpa così spaventosa come in questo periodo di tolleranza.
